Meet Hunter Schneider, a new member of Layer3 Security Services’ team. Hunter is currently a fourth year undergraduate student at the University of California- San Diego. He is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nano Engineering as well as a minor in entrepreneurship/innovative technology. Hunter joined the team a little less than 6 months ago as a Project Engineering Intern and his duties include assisting the team in both the field and office setting.
Along with his position at Layer3 and as a student, Hunter works with children with autism as a Behavior Therapist. He has been working with children and adults with disabilities for over 7 years and actively participates in the community supporting autism awareness. Hunter recently gave a week of his time to a non-profit in Orange County called RAD camp.
RAD camp takes in over 80 campers with disabilities and pairs them with a volunteer on a 1:1 ratio. The camper spends a week participating in activities that you would find at any summer camp like arts and crafts, games, music, movies, swimming, etc. Over the course of the week, the volunteer acts as a camper’s best friend and caregiver. Each volunteer is hand selected, comes highly recommended and goes through background checks, fingerprinting and personalized interviews and receives training in communication, behavior modification and basic first aid. Volunteers are responsible for helping campers with all sanitary and physical needs as well as making sure they are having the best week of their year. You can find more information about the camp at http://www.radcamp.org/.
In his spare time, Hunter enjoys skateboarding and long boarding. His other hobbies include snowboarding, reading and spending time with friends. His favorite food is pasta.
