UCSD Brings Surveillance Into the Light With Sustainable MicroPower Solution

The surveillance system at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) manages about 1,000 channels of video, including a mix of IP cameras (75 percent) and legacy analog cameras (25 percent). These cameras are used to view university centers, provide campus overviews, and operate alongside 12 mass notification system towers. Cooper Notification offers connectivity to FEMA

Customers of Cooper Notification, a supplier of life safety and mass notification system solutions, now can send alerts from their Roam Secure Alert Network directly to FEMA’s Commercial Mobile Alert System [CMAS] and the next-gen Emergency Alert System. CMAS, part of FEMA’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System, is the government’s latest development to communicate to the public in an emergency by sending specially formatted text messages to all devices capable of receiving the alert in a specified geographic area.
